About Ready to Learn Texas

Ready to Learn Texas is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that every K–12 student across the state has equitable access to the basic school supplies they need to succeed in the classroom. For many Texas families, the cost of a full back-to-school list — notebooks, pencils, calculators, art supplies, and more — is a genuine hardship. We close that gap by assembling grade-appropriate supply kits and mailing them directly to students' homes, completely free of charge, year-round.

Our platform makes it simple for families in need to request a kit through a short online application, and just as simple for supporters to sponsor a student. Donors can fund an elementary, middle, or high school kit, a mid-year refill pack, or a custom amount of their choosing. Every gift is matched to a real Texas student and shipped straight to their door, so a contribution turns into a backpack full of supplies in a child's hands within days. We align our distribution with the academic calendar, with our largest pushes in late summer before school starts and secondary refills each January.

This program is built for Texas families with students in public, charter, private, and homeschool settings who are experiencing financial need — and for the generous individuals, churches, civic groups, and local businesses who want to make sure no child starts the year without the tools to learn. Ready to Learn Texas is operated by a small, volunteer-driven team of Texas educators, parents, and community advocates who saw classmates and neighbors struggling to afford basic supplies and decided to act. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and every dollar we receive goes toward purchasing, packing, and shipping supplies to the kids who need them most.
